The social side of the Group is very strong and includes UK and European trips, Machine Handling days, First Aid courses, Track and Off-Road days,Ride-outs and bi-monthly social evenings.
Our Sunday rideouts normally happen on the last Sunday of the month. Details of upcoming Rideouts can be found in the Diary
Typically, they are 150-250 miles in length. Please study the Backmarker System that we use on all rideouts and Wizzes. Unlike many other groups, we do not run separate novice, experienced and 'Instructor only' rideouts. Why not? Firstly, because we believe that is a bit patronising. Secondly, we firmly believe that trainee members learn an awful lot by riding with more experienced riders and thirdly, we do not believe that a group of bikes riding closely together in formation is a good or safe idea.
Our Back Marker System does not rely on 'keeping the guy behind in your mirrors' or having to ride in a ribbon convoy. Instead we operate a system that ensures people can travel in their own space, well spread out from each other. We do allow overtaking to happen so that everyone can travel at his/her own pace (no cheap overtakes, no carving others up etc).
On rideouts, we aspire to making smooth, unobtrusive progress. We're all dedicated motorcyclists and recognise that large numbers of bikes may be intimidating to other road users and also potentially dangerous to riders in the group. The leader will have spent a lot of time and effort planning the route and will brief everyone before setting out. Please listen to the briefing and follow any instructions carefully.
Apart from that, we aim just to have a lot of fun with challenging, interesting roads and excellent company!
