Southern Motorcycle Advanced Rider Training (SMART) was formed in 1999 with the principle idea of teaching advanced motorcycling skills to motorcyclists.
In 2002 we became affiliated to RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders. To show our commitment we renamed ourselves RoSPA SMART. 18 months ago RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders advised us that they were embarking on a new branding strategy. Thus the charity has reverted back to Southern Motorcycle Advanced Rider Training while our affiliated identification is RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders – Southern Riders.
We help anyone over the age of 18 who has an interest in safer motorcycling to obtain and keep up new skills so they are better able to ride safely and with more confidence. This is not to say that you don’t already ride safely. It simply means we are hoping to help you achieve a higher standard of riding and if you want you can take the RoSPA advanced riding test. This is currently the highest civilian test standard.
